About

Background, Skills, and Direction

I am Horace Chan, a mechanical engineering undergraduate student interested in the intersection of mechanical systems, intelligent agents, and AI-assisted research workflows.

This website is a long-term public space for projects, learning notes, experiments, reading paths, and reflections as they become concrete.

Background

My academic background is in Mechanical Engineering. I am building a foundation in mechanical design, robot systems, machine learning, deep learning, and robot control, while gradually connecting these areas through practical projects and reading notes.

I am especially interested in how engineering intuition from physical systems can support the study of embodied AI and robotic control.

Engineering Skills

  • Mechanical structure design with mainstream 3D CAD tools, including SolidWorks
  • Programming with Python, C, and C++
  • Learning and applying machine learning and deep learning fundamentals
  • Building structured study systems and AI-assisted workflows for technical learning
  • Reading and organizing papers, project notes, and implementation records

Research Interests

  • AI-assisted workflows for learning, research, note-taking, and engineering productivity
  • Vision-Language-Action models and their role in robot learning
  • Embodied AI, especially the connection between perception, language, action, and physical interaction
  • Robotics and robot control, including modeling, control strategies, and learning-based methods
  • Mechanical design for intelligent robotic systems

Long-Term Goal

My long-term goal is to understand how intelligent agents and robot systems are constructed, from mechanical design and control to learning-based decision-making. I hope to participate in research and engineering practice related to embodied intelligence, robot control, and AI-assisted scientific workflows.
